Baseball player turned engineer, Franklyn began his journey into academic research with a summer internship in the Gerecht Lab at Johns Hopkins.
Franklyn returned to JHU to pursue his PhD in Biomedical Engineering in 2017. His current work focuses on using stem cell derived vascular cells to create a model for Marfan syndrome, a genetic disorder that effects the connective tissue. Franklyn is a recipient of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Gilliam Fellowship.
Franklyn is a skilled angler and baseball player.
